Promoting sustainable agriculture

In 2024, Qredits organised two successful editions (in March and August) of the Agri-Business Academy (ABA). This special programme was aimed at participants who wanted to start a business in the agricultural sector, a sector full of potential for sustainable development in Curaçao.

From idea to action in 12 weeks

Over the course of 12 intensive weeks, ambitious participants worked step by step on their business plans. They received guidance from experienced entrepreneurs, industry experts and mentors who know the field inside out. Lessons were learned from successes and from mistakes — because that’s what entrepreneurship is all about.

What the participants took with them afterwards:

  1. A professional business plan
  2. Confidence to pitch their idea
  3. A strong network of fellow entrepreneurs
  4. The opportunity to apply for financing from Qredits

The theory was delivered in English, but the real conversations took place in Papiamento. Personal, local and familiar.

Collaboration for impact

The ABA was made possible thanks to a strong collaboration with the Ministry of Economic Development (MEO) and the Federashon Kooperativanan Uni di Produkshon (FKUP). Besides the classroom sessions led by Qredits trainers, participants received hands-on lessons under the guidance of FKUP experts. Both editions were celebrated with a final presentation, where participants pitched their plans to a jury including representatives from Qredits, MEO, FKUP and established agricultural entrepreneurs.

In total, 32 participants successfully completed the ABA, each with new plans, practical skills and a healthy dose of motivation.

Growth on all fronts

  • Personal: Participants discovered their potential and built their future
  • Professional: Practical tools and guidance resulted in strong business plans.
